Gouache in Nature - Weekend Workshop

Course Description In this two-day course, you will learn everything you need to know about painting with gouache. Together, we will explore how to use gouache both in the studio and outdoors. On the first day, you’ll build a strong foundation through technique, color exploration, and composition exercises. On the second day, we’ll take our materials into nature and spend time drawing and painting in the beautiful botanical garden in Basel Workshop Goals * Learn the fundamentals of painting with gouache * Understand how to mix and use color effectively * Explore composition and visual storytelling * Develop observation skills through drawing from nature * Create a series of botanical sketches and studies Course Structure Day 1 – Gouache Fundamentals (Studio, 3h) * Introduction + materials overview * Understanding gouache: * Color theory basics: * Composition principles: * Botanical inspiration: * Guided exercises Day 2 – Botanical Garden Session (On Site, 3h) * Warm-up observation exercises * Guided sketching of plants and natural elements * Translating sketches into gouache paintings * Individual feedback and support * Developing a small series of works * Closing reflections and sharing What’s Included * All gouache materials (paints, brushes, paper, etc.) * A personal sketchbook to keep * Light refreshments & snacks * A common exhbition A Few More Things to Know
