Claudia Melchor del Río (b. 1992, Tenerife, Spain) is an architect, artist, researcher, and educator whose practice focuses on the democratisation of art and architecture. Working at the intersection of participatory design, feminist theory, and spatial politics, she investigates how forgotten spaces operate as social devices.

Grounded in university-level teaching experience at the Chair of Architecture and Participation(TUM), she translates research into public-facing formats that invite broader participation: pedagogy, accessible writing, and video essays on art and culture.

Her long-standing illustration practice operates as a tool for mediation: a way to turn complex spatial questions into vivid narratives and images that make knowledge shareable beyond specialist circles.

Her conceptual art practice is rooted in lived experience and architectural facts, using industry realities, material logics, and social histories as primary sources. Across these forms, her work positions mediation not as an add-on, but as the core medium: building shared language around space so that architectural knowledge and cultural literacy can belong to everyone.

Field + expertise:

  • Participatory architecture and co-design methodologies

  • Feminist spatial research: third spaces, domestic/invisible labour, care infrastructures

  • Teaching and knowledge translation (university pedagogy, workshops, public learning)

  • Cultural mediation

  • Conceptual art development based on research, lived experience, and spatial evidence
