Deviating from Nietzsche’s Amor Fati (love of one’s fate), this Hybrid Work, consisting of a research on Failure and Rejection and a wearable artwork, explores the concept of Amor Deficiendi (love of one’s failure).
In my wearable artwork, I present a collection of rejection letters I have religiously gathered over the years.
In Samuel Beckett’s words, what this meticulous collection of professional failures has taught me is to «Fail again. Fail better». Reframing failure as something human, common, and enjoyable has become my side hustle; I have come out on the good side of the pratfall effect. The thrill of being able to apply to the most unlikely positions, expect nothing, fail, take the risk again, and fail again has become my own kind of serotonin high. I have trained myself to find pleasure in every failed attempt, every rejection letter, and every dream crushed. Now I used this knowledge to create wearable artworks (Wear Your Failure) and an open directory of Failure.
